Shillelaghs, Emeralds and Firefighters

Shillelaghs, Emeralds and Firefighters

Visions of Shillelaghs and Emeralds are dancing around my head… An invitation found its way to me and one word caught my attention instantly: Shillelagh. Although the actual word used was Shilelagh, and I’m not sure if this was an intentional disambiguation, a spelling mistake (no need to call the spelling police, though), or have some sort meaning that is over my head, I had one of those moments where you couldn’t help but be transported to an Irish image.

The invitation was for the Firefighters Emerald Society of Westchester, and is featuring a band named “Shilelagh Law“: The invitation floating around Facebook read as follows:

The Westchester Firefighters Emerald Society is hosting their annual fundraiser. Shilelagh Law will be featured as the band of the evening. Captain Lawrence will be including in the ticket price with their exceptional craft ales wine and soda for the event. Music starts at 6pm. $45 per person plus fees.

Not knowing what the Emerald Society represents or commenting on Shilelagh Law, both these references caught my interest, and anything involving firefighters can’t be bad. With that said, have a listen to the band and their music as they perform Meet Me on McLean and Drunken Lullabies.

For a site that was inspire by a green firetruck sporting a fighting Irishman, its only fitting to include Shillelaghs, Emeralds, and Firefighters together.
